Lon Chaney, "The Man of a Thousand Faces," was Hollywood's premier character actor during the silent period. He took his complex characters and legendary make-up artistry to rise to leading actor status. His ability to make himself completely unrecognizable was unparalleled in such films as "The Phantom of the Opera," "Hunchback of Notre Dame," the lost film "London After Midnight," "Tell it to the Marines," and many, many others.

"London After Midnight" is a lost film, which means there are no prints or negatives in existence that we know of. It is considered the "Holy Grail" of lost films, the one everyone agrees is the most important and sought-after lost film...the one everyone hopes and prays will eventually be found and restored.  It is said that its real value lies not in the film itself (it is not considered Chaney's best), but because of the mythology surrounding it and the legend of a Chaney film that hasn't been seen in half a century, since it was destroyed in a vault fire at the iconic MGM Studios.

The original of this poster came with serious problems, including color fading ad blurring and a general lack of detail. The original looks like it had been poorly stored with some general moisture seepage.  This current version is the third restoration(I was not satisfied with the first two).  It took about 12 hours of work to restore its sharpness and brightness, and return it to its original luster and color vibrancy. The eyes are particularly penetrating.
