“No Man of Her Own”
starring Clark Gable
and Carole Lombard

A Scandalous Love Tale in the Shadows:  In “No Man of Her Own,” Clark Gable and Carole Lombard ignite the screen in a tale of irresistible attraction and risky choices. Gable plays a suave, fast-talking gambler whose life takes an unexpected turn when he meets a straight-laced librarian, played by Lombard, trapped in a stifling small-town routine. Their connection is instant, electric, and fraught with danger as they spiral into a romance that defies convention and courtship.

The Unlikely Romance of Clark Gable and Carole Lombard:  When Clark Gable and Carole Lombard filmed “No Man of Her Own” in 1932, the sparks that flew between them were far from romantic. Lombard, then married to actor William Powell, found Gable conceited, while Gable saw her bawdy humor as excessive. Despite their chilly interactions, the two lightened up by the end of filming, exchanging playful gifts, but there was no indication that they would eventually become one of Hollywood’s most iconic couples.

Four years later, however, fate brought Gable and Lombard back together, igniting a love that captivated Hollywood. They married in 1939, sharing a close and devoted bond. But their time together was tragically brief: in 1942, while returning from a World War II bond tour, Lombard died in a plane crash.
